We work with schools to provide fun baseball experiences to students for variety, skills development, and physical health.
Please contact us if you are a school seeking to incorporate baseball into your physical education programme or after-school sports offerings. Below are examples of the types of programmes we have supported or delivered in recent years.
"Let's Play Ball" was delivered to eight North Shore primary schools by North Shore Baseball in partnership with Harbour Sport - Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa in 2021.
The programme promoted physical activity for both girls and boys while introducing baseball to a wider spectrum of our community. It provided an excellent opportunity for a new players to experience the game, have some fun with classmates, get active and participate while learning valuable skills along the way.
The programme focused on teaching students the following skills:
- Basic rules of baseball
- Fundamentals of hitting a baseball
- Learning to use the glove
- Fielding and baserunning skills
- Player safety
Each school received one all-ages, after-school session per week for three weeks. The programme was free to join and all baseball equipment was provided by North Shore Baseball.

Complementing an existing school baseball programme, North Shore Baseball coaches with ABA and BNZ representative team coaching experience visited the school for an after-school clinic in November 2024. Attended by 49 young players aged mostly 11-13, the clinic received demonstrations of 75 mph pitching followed by some fun activities for everyone to join in. The goal was simple: just "play ball" and have fun! Afterward, there were some more intensive training exercises for those who were keen.

From January to March 2025, North Shore coach and Knights player DJ Martin Jr provided baseball coaching in class time as part of the school's senior boys sports programme. Four senior classes were involved - two year 12 and two year 13 classes. The school's goal was to introduce some variety into the programme to enable the boys to experience a sport that perhaps most of them would not otherwise experience.
