About Coach DJ

Coach David “DJ” Martin Jr is a dedicated, goal-driven coach who prioritizes the consistent progression of his athletes throughout the season. He seeks players who share his passion for the game and embrace the Japanese concept of “Kaizen,” which emphasizes continuous improvement. DJ believes that small, consistent gains—1% better each day over an extended period—are far more valuable than rapid but inconsistent bursts of improvement.

With 18 years of experience as a player and six years of coaching at high levels, including with notable organizations like the Dodgers Dream Team, Dodgers Training Academy, and Garciaparra Baseball Group, DJ has accumulated a wealth of knowledge. He draws from these experiences, as well as his time playing collegiate and professional baseball, to foster growth in the game.

Currently, DJ is studying Sports Performance and Kinesiology at Park University, with the goal of applying these sciences directly to his hands-on coaching experiences. This educational foundation, combined with his practical expertise, further enhances his ability to develop well-rounded athletes.

As a pitcher, DJ logged 154 innings between 2019-2024 at the collegiate and professional levels. In 2023, he made 21 appearances and led the Blackwell Flycatchers of the Pecos League in relief appearances.

He is committed to creating a positive, growth-oriented environment where athletes can thrive both on and off the field. Through his dedication to the Kaizen philosophy, DJ aims to inspire success not only in baseball but in all aspects of life.
